Business BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Durham Sixth Form Centre

Course description

BTEC Nationals in Business use a combination of assessment styles to give students confidence they can apply their knowledge to succeed in the workplace, and have the study skills to continue learning on higher education courses and throughout their career. This range of vocational assessments, both practical and written, mean students can showcase their learning and achievements to best effect when they take their next step, whether it be supporting applications to higher education courses or potential employers.

Course content

The BTEC Nationals in Business can be successfully combined with a course in any other AS or BTEC discipline. There is also the opportunity to combine study with the IFS Certificate in Financial Studies, which will complement Unit 3 Personal & Business Finance.

The BTEC Nationals in Business require the completion of mandatory and optional units as illustrated below. Currently there are two options available to students, either the Extended Certificate (1 x A-level equivalent) or the Diploma (2 x A-level equivalent). Students who have previously opted for the Extended Certificate have had the opportunity to extend their study to the Foundation Diploma (1.5 x A-level equivalent) in Year 13 in support of university applications. There could also be the potential to focus on programmes of study such as Enterprise & Entrepreneurship.
