Digital Photography at Penketh High School

Course description

AS YEAR 12The units covered are:Unit 1 (Coursework) - This unit comprised of a practical project that is supported through a digital sketchbook. All Photography students submit photographs in digital form and have opportunities to present their work to their peers. It is essential that all students are able tocritically discuss ideas feelings and emotions using subject specific vocabulary. Unit 2 (Controlled Test) – This unit is structured in the same format as unit one, however, the theme/assignment is externally set and students have a set time to complete preparatory workbefore sitting the eight hour examA2 YEAR 13The units covered are:Unit 3 (Coursework) – This unit comprises of personal investigation that includes a practical project that is supported through a digital sketchbook as well as a 1000-3000 accompanying written element. The written study is there to further expand on the students researching skillsand is to compliment the photographs they have taken. Unit 4 (Controlled Test) – This unit is structured in the same format as Unit 2, however, theexternally set assignment culminates with a twelve hour exam.

Entry requirements

To study Digital Photography at AS or A2 it is recommended that you have a minimum of 5 GCSEs(A*-C), one of which must be in Art and Design/Textiles Students who have not studied Art and Design or Textiles will be considered on an individual basis.
