Art and Design Level 1 at Peterborough Regional College

Course description

This course is ideal for you if you have no GCSEs or GCSEs at grade D or below and wish to develop your art and design skills.

Course content

The course includes: • Exploring visual language in 2D and 3D • Exploring traditional and digital techniques in art and design • Exploring materials and techniques • Developing creative ideas • Carrying out a personal project • Introduction to graphic design • IT and communication skills

Entry requirements

You will need an interest in this subject and a willingness to work hard.


Assignments and final major project.

Financial information

There may be costs involved for lockers, sketchbooks, gallery and exhibition trips.

Future opportunities

This introductory course will give you a great idea of what is involved in art and design, and you can use it to move up to courses such as Art and Design Level 2 or other Level 2 qualifications providing you pass Level 1 Art & Design.

Further information

You will be required to attend a Welcome Event, details will be provided upon application. If you have other qualifications and/or relevant experience you will be fully considered and may still be able to study for the course.
