Art & Design AS & A Level at Ashlyns School

Course description

This is the course for anyone who has a keen interest in producing their own creative images, and who wants to develop knowledge and understanding of processes used to create images in a range of materials and techniques. You will engage in research, evaluation and analysis of historical and contemporary art in relation to your own practical work; consider the importance of different materials in the development of your ideas; and focus on your practical ability to solve problems, employ critical analysis and document your work.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade B in Art.

Future opportunities

The A Level Art course can lead to study at university and colleges of higher education. In the past students have gone on to study fine art, graphics, photography, ceramics, interior design, furniture design and jewellery design at degree level.

Further information

You will be expected to travel independently to galleries and museums to study work from first hand observation.
