Animal Management (Top-up) Level 3 Diploma at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College*

Course description

The Level 3 Diploma in Animal Management top-up provides learners who have passed the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Animal Management and met necessary progression criteria the opportunity to extend their Level 3 study into a second year and, upon successful completion, achieve a qualification equivalent to 2 A Levels.

Course content

As part of this study programme, you will study a range of exciting units centred around working with a range of animal species and exploring habitat conservation, as well as studying science-based units, such as Biology and Anatomy.

Entry requirements

Learners will need to have: GCSE grade 4 (grade C) in English and Science as well as to have successfully passed their GCSE Maths whilst studying on the Subsidiary Diploma Animal Management. Leaners need to be successful at interview and Taster day and show an enthusiasm for the industry.


Sessions will be a mixture of theory and practical lessons and wherever possible underpinning theory will also be demonstrated in a practical context. There will be a variety of assessment methods used (written assessments, observations, presentations and discussions).

Future opportunities

All learners will be encouraged to make a UCAS application in order to have the opportunity to further study this field at university.

A wide range of industry employment routes are available to learners on both Level 3 two-year courses including working with animal collections in a variety of settings, employment in retail outlets with animal provision and working in conservation.
