This Apprenticeship is suitable for those supporting teaching and learning in schools and will help to enhance your role as a teaching assistant. The Apprenticeship covers a range of topics to help you develop the skills required to provide support in schools. Completing this Apprenticeship not only increases your skills and knowledge it also helps to improve your confidence. You will examine various policies, examples of children’s work and teacher planning as well as being observed in a supporting role.

There is no formal exam required however you will need to produce a portfolio of evidence for the STL programme and there are formal exams required for Maths, English and ICT. In addition to this, you will be observed in the school by both the school and your course tutor.

Successful completion of the Apprenticeship enables you to progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship in Support Teaching and Learning or the Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
