Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology Level 2 at West Kent College

Course description

The creative media sector offers a vast number of career paths and on this course you will explore the wide array of skills and techniques prized by employers across industries including:

• Research skills and ideas/concept development
• Production techniques and processes
• Understanding audiences

You will undertake a series of creative projects, producing a portfolio of practical production work for the audio, visual and interactive media industries incorporating moving image, animation, basic web-design, publishing, podcasting and photography. You will also develop your employability skills through teamwork and presentations.

Alongside your practical work you will also study key media concepts including audience theory and the effects of media messages. In the final term you will be given the opportunity to work on your own creative media project which will be exhibited in our end of year show.

You will attend College visits to exhibitions, museums, and film and TV studios to support your studies.

You will also study English and maths if you have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade C/4 in these subjects.

Entry requirements

You will need four GCSEs at Grades D/3 or above, including English and maths or alternately a Level 1 Diploma and functional skills qualifications in English and maths.

You will be required to attend an interview and present work from a pre-interview task.

You also need a positive recommendation or reference from your school or tutor.

Future opportunities

Progress to a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production, Graphic Design or Photography.
