Geography A Level at De Aston School

Course description

This four-unit specification allows a balance between students’ own particular physical, human and environmental interests and key geographical topics.

We have a preference for Edexcel’s GCE Geography as it includes global issues that are relevant to students today.

Special Features:

The course has been designed to allow geographers the flexibility to build programmes that suit their own particular interests and needs. Fieldwork and research skills are a key feature of both the Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Unit 2 and the Advanced level (A2) Unit 4. These units offer flexibility to centres with varying and diverse fieldwork resources and approaches.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language. A vocational qualification will be considered as an equivalent to a GCSE qualification provided that at least a Level 2 Merit has been achieved on the examination element of that course.

Minimum of grade ‘C’ in GCSE Geography.

If a student has not studied GCSE Geography then a grade C in a Humanities subject is required i.e. History, RE, Sociology, Business Studies.
