Btec Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design at St Mary's College

Course description

The aim of the course is to develop Student’s creative ability by working through a variety of projects in various specialist areas with Art and Design. Students will develop their skills and become familiar and confident in experimenting with a range of materials, techniques and processes. They will gain experience in working with live clients and have a developed understanding of the Art and Design industry. They will produce ideas, concepts and products within the fields of Graphic Design, Printmaking, Fine art, Three dimensional design, Fashion design, Textiles design, Photography and Digital imaging. Students will also develop a strong understanding of contextual references; Art and Design in the past, present and future. Having experienced and learned a whole new world of skills and techniques, students will specialise in the field of their choice where they will complete a final Major Project.

Entry requirements

It is advantageous that students who choose BTEC level 3 Art and Design have successfully completed a level 2 course (GCSE, BTEC Level 2) in Art and Design and/or Design and Technology although this is not essential. The course requires hard work and dedication throughout and students who display these attributes will be considered.
