'A' LEVEL FRENCH at Selby College
The course aims to build on the knowledge acquired at GCSE and will help you further develop skills in speaking, reading, writing and listening to French, as well as encouraging an awareness of the cultural differences between Britain and French speaking countries.
The course is suitable for anyone with a keen interest in speaking, reading, writing and listening to French and who is interested in learning about French grammar.
In Year 1 you will study aspects of French-speaking society and artistic culture; for example, family and relationships, digital technology, cinema and music.
In Year 2 you will study aspects of French-speaking society and political life; for example, immigration, wealth and poverty, law and order, young people and politics.
You will also study a film and a book.
Standard 'A' Level entry requirements apply. For this course you will also need a Grade 5 in French.
On successful completion, you may go on to university to study courses in languages or those with a European or international dimension, or combine a language with other subjects such as Business Studies, Law or Sciences.
