Geography A Level at Norton College

Course description

It is an interesting, varied and exciting course focusing in Year 12 on issues such as Rivers and Flood Management, Global health, Population Change, Cold Environments and Investigative Fieldwork. In Year 13 students will focus on Contemporary Geographical Issues such as Plate Tectonics and World Cities. You will also investigate contemporary conflicts (e.g. Middle East) and Ecosystems.

Entry requirements

GCSE or equivalent: 5 A*-C.
English and Maths-C or above.
Specific-B in subject area.


Year 12:Unit 1 Physical and Human Geography 2 hour exam 35% of grade.
Year 12: Unit 2 Geographical Skills 15% of Grade 1 hour exam.
Year 13: Unit 3 Contemporary Geographical issues 30% of grade 2 hour 30 min exam.
Year 13: Unit 4 Issues Evaluation 20% of grade1 hour 30 minute exam.
