Course description

Based within CIDA (Creative Industrial Design & Arts) this course provides an opportunity for aspiring artists and designers to progress to a specialist level 3 course and onward to HE or a career in an art and design area. This course is for those needing to build skills and knowledge and perhaps be introduced for the first time to some of the processes and techniques within art and design

Course content

This is a taster course providing aspiring artists and designers with opportunity to explore many different media and associate techniques, in the process developing skills in each area. Elements of fashion, graphics, 3D, textiles and painting will be underpinned throughout by drawing skills. All work will lead towards a final project centered around a personally chosen theme, area of interest and specialism. Additionally functional skills and work skills are undertaken.

Entry requirements

4 GCSE grade D or above, or equivalent, plus Portfolio and Interview. Formal academic entry requirements may be waived for mature students however Portfolio and Interview will still apply.

Assessment

Art and design Journals, Research books, 3D outcomes, Portfolio and Presentation.

Financial information

£150 studio contribution per year, plus materials/visits/exhibitions.

 

Future opportunities

Level 3 if attaining a sufficiently high overall grade and subject to further interview with portfolio.
