Vehicle Body Repair Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 at PETROC

Course description

At Level 2 you will be introduced to the principles of vehicle body repair, such as removing and replacing panels, welding and panel repair. Knowledge will be assessed by a technical diploma in both theory and practical subjects and be completed at college.

Course content

Evidence from the workplace will go towards a portfolio.

Entry requirements

Students must be employed within the vehicle body repair industry.


The course is assessed by both written and practical means. Students will be required to complete multiple choice question papers set on line. Practical assessments will be carried out in the workshop. The assessments in the workshop will be graded as 'competent' or 'not competent'. Students who do not pass first time will be given the opportunity to retake the assessment after guidance and further training. Assessments will also be carried out in the workplace.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of the Level 2 Apprenticeship may lead to the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.

Further information

This course is run at the Brannams Campus, Barnstaple, in a teaching environment that is similar to a modern vehicle body repair centre.
