Level 3 Football & Education Programme at Shrewsbury College

Course description

This programme of study involves a minimum of 6 hours per week of practical sessions which will include Football and Strength and Conditioning coaching from professional FA qualified coaches from Shrewsbury Town Football Club. You will study the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in sport which includes modules such as; Sports nutrition, leadership in sport, psychology in sport, performance analysis. You will also study GCSEs in Maths and English.Additional CostsSelected players for this programme will be supplied with training and match-day kit along with a strength and conditioning programme.

Course content

Entry requirements

Aged between 16-17 you will need to have 5 A-C GCSE grades or equivalent qualifications, Preferably in English and PE. Students will be working with Shrewsbury Town Community Sports Trust and receive professional football coaching. Applicants must be enthusiastic about sport and fitness with a particular interest in developing and mastering techniques and skills in Football to enhance performance. You will need to be prepared to fully engage in all physical practical sessions, including fixtures where you will represent STFC in a National Development League against other Premier League and Football League teams as well as applying your skills and knowledge to successfully complete the requirements of the BTEC qualifications. This programme is primarily an education programme focused on young players that have played at a county or representative standard in the past. The young people that qualify for the programme will have the opportunity to be selected for the England national U 19's league squads.
