Creative Digital Media Production BTEC First Diploma at Milton Keynes College
Have you always had a fascination with media in its varied forms, be it TV, Radio or…..?Are you creative and do you enjoy working with others? Then this broad based Media course could be for you. It offers a basic introduction to a range of disciplines and practices from within the industry.
The programme also introduces the requirements of independent studying, team working and of taking responsibility for own learning.
- Research skills
- Studio skills (i.e. use of equipment, editing and recording)
- Single camera film production
- Television studio production
- Introduction to the media sector
- Basic drawing for animation and storyboarding
- Functional skills*
*Functional skills qualifications are designed to provide the necessary levels of English and maths skills needed to ‘function’ in today’s society and workplace. They are a key component of all College programmes. You will complete at least 1 Functional skill at an appropriate level as part of your programme.
A minimum of 6 points including 2 GCSEs at grade D or above, one of which must be English. Equivalent qualifications in a relevant discipline will be accepted with GCSE English at grade D or above.
Mature candidates will be considered on an individual basis.
You will be continually assessed throughout the course through set project work. Functional Skills are assessed by on-line exams and you will be given guidance and support to achieve these.
Initially you will be encouraged to progress to one of the following:
- BTEC Level 2 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (Games Development)
- Any Level 2 IT courses
- Any Level 2 Art & Design courses
- An Apprenticeship.
After further study at levels 2 and 3 you can progress into employment into roles including:
- TV Cameraman
- Concept artist
- Junior assistant production management roles.
