Btec Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care at St Mary's College
Aims of the course
The aim of the course is to enable students to develop an understanding of
working with people with specific needs. Work experience is integral to the
course and gives students the opportunity to put theory into practice whilst
allowing students to also develop the skills necessary for a future career within
the Health or Social Care sector. Students will develop independent research
skills and are encouraged to reflect on their attributes and own professional
development throughout the course.
Students who have studied a Level 2 Health and Social Care or Childcare
qualification such as GCSE or BTEC First will find their prior knowledge
advantageous however it is not essential. It is expected that students are well
organised and prepared for each lesson and read around the subject.
