Public Services BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 at East Berkshire College

Course description

This course presents the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge required for a successful career in a range of public services including the armed and emergency forces.

Course content

Units will include

  • government and policies
  • leadership and teamwork
  • citizenship
  • discipline
  • fitness testing
  • law and crime and effects
  • police powers
  • dealing with accidents/incidents
  • diversity and international perspectives
  • communication and technology.

It will also cover expedition skills, map work and navigation, with outdoor adventurous activities.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English Language and Maths or equivalent, or Public Services BTEC Diploma Level 2 at Distinction level and Functional English Level 2.

Other qualifications and relevant experience will also be considered.


Written presentations, discussions, assignments and practical activities.

Future opportunities

You may want to progress to Higher Education and study law, policing or many other public services degrees.

Employment in the Police, Fire Brigade, Army, Navy, RAF, Local authorities and many other Public Services career pathways.
