Information Technology BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Harlow College

Course description

This is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. It provides an all-round computing experience and advanced technical skills to support you in a range jobs and university courses. Elements of the course include: communication and employability skills for IT; computer systems and information systems.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade C in English and Maths


You will study three or four units each trimester. Units will be assessed through projects, assignments, presentations and observation of practical work. Throughout the programme, you will need to collect a portfolio of evidence showing how you have met the requirements of the program. Internal units are assessed and graded, added to an overall grade for the qualification.

Financial information

You will need to provide stationary, folder, text book and a USB memory stick. Textbooks to be confirmed at enrolment. You are welcome to bring your own laptop, tablet, smartphone or any other technology needed.

Future opportunities

Progress to university, employment or an apprenticeship in IT.
