Sociology A level at Mill Hill County High School

Course description

ociology is the study of societies, people and their behaviour. Sociologists are interested in the way in which institutions such as the family, education and religion shape who we are and how we behave.  How much of who you are is shaped by the society in which you live?

The Sociology course examines contemporary society where students will study many aspects of life in modern Britain. Students will have the choice to pursue the AS or the A Level in Sociology. Those taking the AS in Sociology will study Sociology for one year and will sit two exams at the end of the year (see below). Those opting for the A Level in Sociology will study Sociology over two years and will sit three papers at the end of these two years (see below). Both options will allow students to consider key sociological issues and debates. They also give students the opportunity to develop skills valued by higher education and employers, including critical analysis, independent thinking and research.
