Assistant Accounting AAT Level 3 Apprenticeship at Seevic College

Course description

Progress your career in Accounting with our Level 3 AAT Apprenticeship. An Apprenticeship in this field can get you entry to a number of successful careers in business and beyond.

Alongside studying a number of core modules, you'll specialise in areas such as financial and accounts support, bookkeeping, auditing, tax and payroll.

So if you enjoy working with numbers and are keen to understand how a successful business works, this nationally recognised qualification could be for you.

Course content

Core units include:

  • Accounts Preparation
  • Final Accounts for Sole Traders and Partnership
  • Indirect Tax
  • Costs and Revenues
  • Professional Ethics
  • Spreadsheet Software.

At college, you will also be delivered training in Personal Learning & Thinking skills.

During your time in the workplace, you will have the opportunity to practice and implement learning in the following areas:

  • Advanced Bookkeeping
  • Final Accounts Preparation
  • Management Accounting: Costings
  • Indirect Tax 
  • Ethics for Accountants
  • Spreadsheets for Accountants

Entry requirements

  • Grade C/4 or above in GCSE English Language or Literature and Maths.
  • Level 2 AAT qualification (or equivalent).


You will attend Seevic College one day per week and be assessed through online exams. 

This Apprenticeship will also involve an End Point Assessment, consisting of two parts:

  • A synoptic end-test giving the apprentice the opportunity to tackle a series of business-related tasks through a simulation. This will be assessed through the existing AAT synoptic assessment that maps to the current AQ2016 Advanced Accounting Qualification (Level 3)
  • A portfolio of evidence that demonstrates competence in the knowledge, skills and behaviours in the standard, gathered from the apprentice’s practical experience in the workplace, combined with a reflective discussion: a structured interview to examine the portfolio evidence and the learner journey in more detail. The reflective discussion will be conducted by an Independent Assessor (IA) appointed by AAT.

Future opportunities

You can progress to our Level 4 AAT Apprenticeship, take other related professional qualifications, go on to university or to full-time employment in the industry.

Employment opportunities include roles such as an Assistant Accountant, Trainee Accounting Technician, Accounts Clerk, Cashier, Finance Assistant, Purchase Ledger Clerk and a Sales Ledger Clerk
