English Language and English Literature A Level at Wallington High School for Girls

Course description

Students choose A level English Language and Literature who are interested in approaching literary texts with a focus on linguistic terminology.

Course content

Component 3
Non-literary texts (2 hrs; 20%)
A comparative analysis of three unseen spoken language texts and a non-literary text (eg Homage to Catalonia)

Component 4
Critical and creative genre study
A 1500 word study based on wider reading of a genre (eg the gothic)
 

Entry requirements

An A grade in GCSE English Language and English Literature.

Assessment

3 x 2hr exams and one coursework component.
