AQA Physics A

Physics AS and A2

Understanding of Science at its most fundemental. 

Appreciation of how Science works in practice.

Relevance of Science beyond the laboratory.

Course content

At AS level you study three modules as detailed below:

Unit 1 - Particles, radiation and quantum phenomena.

Unit 2 - Mechanics and the Molecular kinetic theory model.

Unit 3 - Current electricity and the elastic properties of solids.

Entry requirements

2 B grades in GCSE Science

B grade in GCSE Maths

Assessment

AS.

Each unit is assessed by short (1 1/4 hour) examination. 

Practical examination

A2.

2 units assessed by 1 3/4 hour exams

+ Practical examination.

Future opportunities

AS or A Level Physics is an advantage if you wish to study the following at university:

Physics, Electronics, Medicine, Medical Sciences, Veterinary Science, Pharmacy, Forensic Science, or Engineering.
