Plastering Apprenticeships Level 3 at Accrington and Rossendale College

Course description

This qualification consists of 60% practical work and 40% theory work. You will carry out practical tasks in purpose-built workshops and theory sessions underpin the practical work by covering Trade Technology and associated subjects. Over the year, you will achieve the diploma qualification by attending college on a day release basis. Alongside this, you will complete a portfolio of work based evidence whilst working on site.

You will be required to achieve Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths if you do not have a grade C or above in your English and Maths GCSE.

Entry requirements

You will need to have completed the Intermediate Apprenticeship in Plastering.


Assessment of the diploma qualification will be by online end of unit theory tests and practical tests for each unit of study. The work based portfolio will also be assessed.

Future opportunities

Completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship will enable you to progress onto Professional Construction courses up to Higher National Qualifications.

Much of the theory content and written work of this course will be available on-line through the College’s “itslearning” virtual learning environment. Candidates must be prepared to use IT as part of their learning.
There will also be opportunities for industrial visits relevant to the course.
