AQA Psychology A Level at Chesterfield High School

Course description

Psychology explores why people act and behave in certain ways. Psychology links well with many other AS courses e.g. Biology, Sociology, Health and Social Care. As with any social science it requires a lot of reading, including newspapers, watching documentaries, researching on the Internet and keeping up to date with current affairs. Unit 1 is completed by a one and a half hour examination. It assesses Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Research Methods and is worth 50% of AS marks and 25% of A2 marks. Unit 2 is completed by a one and a half hour examination. Unit 2 assesses Biological Psychology, Social Psychology and Individual Differences. It is worth 50% of AS marks and 25% of A2 marks. Unit 3 is completed by a one and a half hour examination, assessing Relationships, Eating Behaviour and Aggression and is worth 20% of A2 marks. Unit 4 is completed by a one and a half hour examination. The unit assesses Schizophrenia, Media psychology and Research Methods and is worth 30% of the A2 marks.
