Geography A Level at Sydenham School - Sydenham and Forest Hill Sixth Form

Course description

Statistics show that compared to other subjects Geography graduates are among the most employable. This is presumably because they possess the skills employers look for. The subject is a combination of the facts of science and the understanding of arts, incorporating a wide range of transferable skills.

Year 13

Year 13 builds on the topics studied in Year 12:

  • Landscape Systems. Earth’s Life Support Systems. Geographical Skills. Changing Spaces, Making Places. Global Connections
  • Optional - Study two of five Climate Change. Disease Dilemmas. Exploring Oceans. Future of Food. Hazardous Earth

Entry requirements

Grade B at GCSE Geography

Minimum point score of 38 including Maths and English at grade 4 at GCSE. This is equivalent to 4B and 4C grades overall at GCSE. Students will also need to achieve the subject specific criteria below:

Assessment

Three exam papers and an independent investigation
