Business BTEC Level 3 at Temple Moor High School
Course description
This BTEC qualification has been designed to meet the needs of students, employers and Higher Education. It provides a range of skills and opportunities for future employment and educational study. The course is unit based involving studies in a range of tasks and activities.
Course content
Students will study 6 units covering a variety of topic areas:
· Unit 1 - The Business Environment
· Unit 2 - Business Resources
· Unit 3 - Introduction to Marketing
· Unit 4 - Business Communication
· Unit 9 – Creative Product Promotion
· Unit 13 – Recruitment & Selection in Business
Practical business skills are developed through each of the individual units where students are expected to undertake extensive research of real businesses. Methods of
research include students visiting local firms, using libraries and obtaining primary data.
Entry requirements
Dedication towards achievement is desirable. Excellent attendance is
essential and a willingness to learn is compulsory. Admission may be dependant on the individual.
Assessment
All units are coursework based units, internally assessed by the school, and then externally moderated by a BTEC Visiting Moderator. There are no external tests or exams.
All individual units are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. The
subsidiary diploma and the diploma are graded in the same way.
Future opportunities
On to banking, accounting, marketing, retail management and personnel. This qualification is relevant for any job. Business Studies allows students to move onto higher education in most areas. Related courses include Business, Marketing and Economics.
