Acting Level 3 at Itchen College

Course description

If you are looking for a practical Level 3 qualification which will allow you to progress to higher education or employment, this course is for you.

This course is for you if... truly love acting and want to develop as a practising artist.

Taking this course also allows you to become a part of our Creative Arts Academy.

Course content

A series of modules will take students through acting training and will provide a basis for life as a professional performing artist. Modules are to be confirmed and are tailored around intake but may include, performing to an audience, stand-up comedy, acting for film and TV, auditions for actors, developing the voice of the actor and a theatre in education tour.

Throughout the course there will be opportunities to work with visiting practitioners and take part in workshops led by professional performing artists. You will also be invited to join the department on trips to experience a wide range of theatre and performance art.

Entry requirements

Grades 9-4 in English and five GCSEs at grades 9-4 and A*-C. Merit or above in a related vocational Level 2 qualification will also be accepted.

Proven practical ability, a willingness to publically perform and a desire to progress in the Performing Arts are essential.

Additional guidance is available at interview.


Assessment is via one externally assessed practical unit and two internally assessed units. 

Future opportunities

As a two year course many of our students will take it alongside Musical Theatre and Drama & Theatre Studies. It is worth UCAS points if you wish to go on to higher education.

Further information

Students will take part in showcases throughout the year and go on visits to theatres, dance studios and world renowned destinations.
