Pre-vocational 1 at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai

Course description

This course is for learners with mild to moderate learning disabilities (MMLD) who wish to develop the academic, personal and social skills to enable progression to vocational pathways in the ILS department or mainstream provision within college.

Course content

Students attend classes in small groups (in a maximum of 12) with a Tutor and Learning Support Assistants (LSA). Each learner has an individual learning plan (ILP). Outside visits and guest speakers will be included to assist learning.

Entry requirements

Applicants will need to attend a successful interview to make sure the course is right for them.

All places are subject to satisfactory interview.


A variety of assessment methods are used including observations. Assessments will be completed in class time.

Future opportunities

After one year, possible options depending on progress are:

  • Pre-vocational 2  
  • Step Up To Work, should you decide you wish to enter paid, unpaid or voluntary employment opportunities 
  • other training opportunities if appropriate. 

All learners will have regular tutorials, careers education guidance and access to pastoral support.

Further information

Depending on the campus, students may be able to access elements of the programme in both English and Welsh through some programme learning materials being made available bilingually. Details will be provided to you at interview.
