Pure Mathematics at Drayton Manor High School

Course description

Mathematics at AS/A2 is challenging but interesting. It builds on GCSE but involves new ideas that some of the greatest minds of the millennium have produced. It is a very useful support for other qualifications as well as being a sought-after qualification for the workplace and courses in Higher Education. At AS and A2 Mathematics goes well with a variety of subjects and is often taken in conjunction with subjects from the arts, humanities and the sciences.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs grade A*-C and at least a Grade A in Maths GCSE and be taking AS Mathematics for entry or contact the school

Future opportunities

You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Mathematics, which could lead onto higher education in areas of Mathematics, related areas such as Engineering, Economics, Physics or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to Mathematics such as an Accountant, Engineer, Financial Adviser or Teacher. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
