Food Technology A Level at St Nicholas Catholic High School

Course description

Society and Health. Demography, family and society, key issues for society, employment and unemployment, environmental issues, health issues.
 
Resource Management. Financial awareness, food provision, food marketing, food preparation, food safety and hygiene.
 
Food Nutrition and Investigative Study. Students select their own topic for study, such as obesity in the population, nutrition for sport and exercise, or financial management at university.
 
Students use a wide range of skills which are necessary for the world of work, such as time management, teamwork, problem-solving, effective communication, and financial skills for working to budgets.
 
Nutrition and Food Production. Principles of nutrition, community nutrition, product development, food management, food business.

Entry requirements

GCSE Science or English Language grade B or above. GCSE Food Technology is useful but not essential.
