Course description


Unit 1. Categorising Texts.

This is a general introduction to the study of languages and uses a variety of social contexts as a basis for study, e.g. power, gender and technology.

Unit 2. Creating Texts.

Students produce a folder of original writing for different purposes and audiences.


Unit 3. Developing Language.

Students study two areas: Language Acquisition and Language Growth and Change.

Unit 4. Investigating Language / Media Text.

Students work on a research project, on an aspect of spoken or written language which interests them and then produce a media text which reflects their findings

Entry requirements

The minimum requirement for a GCE AS/A2 course is 6+ grades A*-B at GCSE or equivalent. For a student to study at GCE AS/A2 a subject that they studied at GCSE they must have achieved at least a grade B in that subject at GCSE where the subject requires previous study
