Business (BTEC) at Somervale School
The BTEC Nationals in Business have been developed in the business sector to focus on:
- Education and training for students who are likely to work in administration, marketing, human resources, accounting, ICT and the legal and management areas of business
- Providing opportunities for employees working in administration, marketing, human resources, accounting, ICT and the legal and management areas of business to achieve a nationally recognised Level Three vocationally specific qualification
- Giving learners the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification to enter employment in the business sector or to progress to higher qualifications such as the BTEC Higher National in Business or related degree courses
- Giving learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
5 GCSE A*-C grades or equivalent
The BTEC National in Business has been developed to provide a broad educational basis for further training, further education or for moving into appropriate employment within the business sector. The course has been designed to be delivered in a work-related context and to allow learners to develop an appreciation of the business sector.
Who might the course suit?
Students who will enjoy this course will have the “get up and go” to research independently and participate enthusiastically in presentations, roleplays, debates and in-depth research. This research may involve library resources, the internet, business visits and surveys.
