Public Services BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma at Lakes College West Cumbria

Course description

This course is for those who would like to consolidate their knowledge of public services and gain a qualification that will help them gain employment within the Police, Fire and Ambulance Services  or the Armed Forces. This dynamic course will include command and control, citizenship, diversity, crime and its effects on society, government policies and public services, leadership and teamwork as well as physical preparation, health and lifestyle.  Maths and English will be at the core of your study programme. 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs A*-C or a Level 2 Qualification in Public Services at Merit Grade or above and Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths where not achieved at GCSE

Financial information

Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds who do not already have a full level 3 qualification e.g. 4 or more AS Levels or 2 A Levels. Advanced Learning Loans are available for further education courses at Level 3, 4 & 5. They operate like higher education loans with deferred payments until you earn over approximately £21, 000 per year. (Information available at -learning-loans/overview) You have the option of taking out a loan or setting up a payment plan with the college that best suits your needs.

Future opportunities

Once you have successfully completed the Level 3 you could progress onto one of Lakes College’s HNC/D Sport courses, university or employment. Successful completion of Public Services qualifications can open the doors to a career within the Police, Fire and Ambulance Services or the Armed Forces.
