Bricklaying Cskills Level 1 Diploma at Grantham College

Course description

This course is designed as a training programme and is suitable for those preparing for work in the construction industry as a bricklayer.

Course content

The course involves both practical training and theoretical activities and covers the following core units:

  • Basic bricklaying skills
  • Basic blocklaying skills
  • Basic cavity walling
  • Building methods & construction technology
  • Information, quantities & communication
  • Safe working practices
  • Setting out building masonry structures up to damp course level.

The programme also includes: Certificate In Progression - Bricklaying, Tutorial, Enrichment and Functional Skills.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but you will have to attend an interview.

Assessment

Synoptic practical tasks, a series of knowledge questions for each unit and a multi - choice online end test.

Financial information

Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.  Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this programme will allow you to progress onto the Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying, or to seek a Bricklaying Apprenticeship.

Further information

Tools and materials are supplied by the College. Safety footwear is required for all workshop sessions. Study materials are required for all theory sessions. Department polo shirts are to be worn at all times.
