Physical Education at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy
What the subject is about:The course will appeal to students who already have a practical and/or academic interest in Physical Education. GCSE Physical Education is not a requirement. Physical Education provides the individual with the learning experiences to enhance their own understanding of sports performance. The course is based on the interaction between the theory and practice of Physical Education. Accordingly, the specification integrates diverse theoretical fields whilst seeking to enhance the individuals own performance. Units Include: AS Unit 1: The Social Basis of Sport and Recreation AS Unit 2: Enhancing Performance AS Unit 3: Exercise and Training. The course content at A2 level includes: Historical or Comparative studies, Exercise&Sport Physiology and the improvement of effective performance and critical evaluation of practical activities with synoptic assessment
