Hairdressing Level 3 Diploma at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College*
Do you want to develop your hairdressing techniques and unleash your creativeness? This level 3 qualification develops your skills as a hairdresser; you will carry out a host of tasks using modern, up to date and commercial techniques. At SGS College, we also give you the opportunity to take part in exciting and varied enrichment activities alongside your main qualification which may include trips to hair shows and participating in competitions, as well as theatre and photo -shoot workshops.
Here is a snapshot of the core and additional units you may study throughout the year: - Consultation Analysis - Creative Colouring - Colour Correction - Inspirational Cutting Techniques - Artistic Styling and Dressing Hair.
GCSE English Language grade C and Level 2 Hairdressing Diploma, with tutor references on performance, attitude and attendance over 90%. Students will also be required to secure work experience prior to the course commencing.
You will have a mixture of practical sessions in the salon and classroom based lessons teaching underpinning knowledge. You will be expected to complete hair services on paying clients in the commercial salon. It is expected that you may need to bring in your own clients for practical assessments. Optional trips will also be available to enhance learning.
You will be assessed through observation of practical assessments, assignments and examinations. Experienced tutors will closely monitor and guide you through techniques to ensure you are meeting and exceeding industry standards. You will have personal one-to-one tutorials to review your progress regularly.
Students who successfully complete this course may choose to further their career progression on our Level 4 progression routes.
Completion of this qualification will provide you with career opportunities such as; self-employment, teaching, assessing and managing hair salons in many locations including spa resorts and cruise liners.
