Business Studies A Level at Bitterne Park School

Course description

During the first year students study 2 units which are examined in the summer term.

In unit 1 students will understand how to start up a new small business and the financial planning involved in running a new small business.

In unit 2 students will then investigate into four departments of a business; Marketing, Finance, Operations and Human Resources and the exam questions will be based around improving the effectiveness of the departments.

In A2 Business, the focus is on much larger multinational businesses. Students sit both A2 unit exams in the summer term of year 13.

Unit 3 goes into more depth in the four departments studied at AS. The exam is based upon departmental strategies in order to meet the corporate objectives of a much larger UK business.

The last unit 4 exam will be based upon a pre-released theme on the business environment and managing change where students must investigate into the real business world and will be expected to use real world examples when answering the exam questions.

The whole of the A-Level course is very essay based and the correct written essay structure will be embedded into all lessons.
