Health & Social Care Foundation Learning Level 1 Diploma at West Cheshire College

Course description

A career in care can be rewarding but you need to be dedicated and hard-working. This course will introduce you to various types of care services, including caring for older people, children and those with physical and/or learning disabilities. You’ll develop teamworking skills and practical skills working in appropriate care settings and work with community groups to provide therapeutic activities. By the end of the course you will have completed a portfolio of work, gained experience in real work environments (approximately 50 hours in work placement) and be in a position to choose your future career direction. You will also continue to study English and maths.

Course content

This course will introduce you to caring for older people, children and those with physical and/or learning disabilities.

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at grade G or above or successful completion of an Entry Level programme, or a Vocational Studies course including English and maths. You will also be required to have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

Assessment

You will be continually assessed throughout the programme.
