Art & Design Foundation Studies BTEC Diploma at Chelmsford College

Course description

This is a broad ranging course covering research skills along with classes in drawing, print making, fine art, 3D graphic design, textiles, photography and art history. Learners will work on 2 and 3 dimensional projects using our workshops and studios.

You will work on projects where a strong sense of independence will be encouraged throughout allowing you to develop your own signature or style. The course will culminate in a final major project where you will create a body of work for an end-of-year final exhibition and a portfolio ready to present at an interview.

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements:

A portfolio of work plus either two A level passes at Grade E or above (one must be Art) or BTEC National Certificate/Diploma/Extended Diploma in Art and Design.


Specific Entry Requirements:

Mature learners need to provide a portfolio of work and evidence of any professional skills they have in the field of art and design.


Internally assessed coursework.

Future opportunities

You may progress to Higher Education or employment.
