Fashion & Clothing BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at The City of Liverpool College
Interested in a career in Fashion? The world of Fashion is exciting and dynamic with a broad range of career opportunities. The course provides specialist pathways of fashion & clothing, fashion styling & promotion, visual communication, fashion brand management and textiles. This course encourages students to develop individually and gain expertise, thus enabling you to turn your inspirations into a viable catwalk collection and work towards developing an avant-garde portfolio.
These innovative courses covers a wide spectrum of related studies leading to your chosen pathway with core units in:-
- Visual recording,
- Material techniques and processes
- Ideas and Concepts
- Contextual Influence
In addition students will study a number of specialist units relevant to their chosen pathways.
Learning is mainly through practical demonstrations, group work, lectures, individual projects and presentations and you will be expected to work independently and within realistic time constraint, in order to develop your skills fully. You will also benefit from working in well equipped studios, housing state of the art technologies.
These courses involve educational visits and previous visits have included London Fashion Week, The Clothes Show Live, Victoria & Albert Fashion Museum and the Royal Armouries Museum.
- 5 GCSE qualifications at grade C or above (to include GCSE Art and/ or textiles and English or maths)
- BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design (Fashion & Textiles) or equivalent
- Relevant industrial experience
Applicants will be asked to complete a design based project and all candidates will be interviewed to assess their suitability for the course and will need to demonstrate a high level of motivation, enthusiasm and commitment to this course of study.
Assessment is both continuous and summative and grades are awarded on Pass, Merit and Distinction basis. On Successful completion of year 1 you will achieve a BTEC Level 3 (90 Credit) fashion & Clothing qualification. This enables you to progress to the next level and complete a BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 in Fashion & Clothing.
Employment within the fashion and clothing industry as a fashion designer, illustrator, stylist, pattern cutter, garment technologist, fashion buyer, fashion retail manager or supervisor, small business owner, visual merchandiser, production manager.
The qualification will help gain entry onto one of the higher education courses such as, Foundation Degree, BA in Fashion, Design and Textile related studies.
