Site Carpentry Level 3 Diploma at Carlisle College

Course description

The course is suitable for students who have ideally completed the Diploma L2 in Carpentry & Joinery or for suitably qualified students who are capable of completing this level of course.

Course content

The course includes the following units:

  • Safe working practices
  • Communicating with others
  • Construction technology
  • First fixing operations

You will also work towards qualifications in Maths and English.

Entry requirements

L2 skills/craft qualification e.g. NVQ 2 or relevant work experience. Aptitude test and interview. English Language GCSE grade C or equivalent e.g. Functional Skills English L2 Maths GCSE at grade D or above Functional Skills Maths at L1 as appropriate.

Assessment

Practical assessment is by a series of practical tasks and a final Synoptic Practical Assignment. The theory assessment takes place at the end of each unit with a multi choice question paper. An on-line theory test has to be passed to achieve the qualification.

Future opportunities

Success in the course could lead to full time employment as a site joiner or a HE course at HNC/HND level.
