English Language GCSE Resit at Felixstowe Academy
Candidates who wish to continue their studies into further education at university or training college or who wish to apply for vocational courses or apprenticeships will often find that institutions require candidates to have the core subjects, including English, at grade C or above at GCSE. This courses offers candidates the chance to re take this important qualification, whilst continuing to study other sixth form courses. Classes are usually small and supportive and are made up of year 12 and 13 students only.
The course runs for two lessons within each two week timetable over one year. Opportunities are given for candidates to improve upon coursework grades, both written and spoken, as well as to re visit and enhance skills required to improve written answers in examinations.
The course is intended for students who have already reached grade D at GCSE, although consideration will be given to any candidate with the potential to gain a grade C.
Assessment follows the patterns established at GCSE in year 11, although courseowrk maybe re submitted. Stronger candidates may re-take in November; other candidates will sit examinations the following summer.
