Public Services - Non-uniformed (L3) BTEC Extended Diploma at Stanmore College
This two-year course leads to a nationally-recognised qualification. It comprises 18 units covering a range of topics ranging from process to law creation, why people commit crime, responding to major incidents (terrorism), human rights, teamwork& leadership and how technology is used in public sector organisations.
You'll take part in a range of activities, events and visits including visits to the Houses of Parliament, a Crown Court, the Royal Courts of Justice.
4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language. Alternatively, BTEC First Diploma and GCSE English Languagegrade C or above or equivalent.
You will be assessed on your coursework as there are no exams. You'll complete assignments during the year, which may include written tasks, practical activities and presentations. Some lessons and assessment activities require a good level of fitness.
Students have the opportunity to go to university to study courses such as criminology; social policy and administration; youth work and policing. In addition, the qualification could lead to employment into administrative roles within local government, the NHS and the Civil Service.
