First Certificate in Public Services at Immanuel College

Course description

This course is intended to provide opportunities for learners to develop a range of knowledge, skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for success in working life; while providing them with a qualification recognised by employers and education institutions.  

Course content

You will cover two core units: Public Service Skillsintroduces the purpose and importance of teamwork in the public services, a range of communication skills and the various ways in which instruction can be given. Uniformed Public Service Fitnessteaches you about the major body systems associated with health and fitness, and understanding of the importance of nutrition to health and fitness.You will take part in fitness tests and have to develop your own personal fitness programmes. There is a further optional unit, and we have chosen to do Adventurous Activities and Teamwork for the Public Serviceswhich as well as introducing you to the benefits of outdoor pursuits residentials, and the importance of such activities in youth and community projects, expects you to participate in outdoor pursuits and teamwork.

Assessment

All the work is assessed internally by a range of methods, and the aim is to make study as valuable, applied and exciting as possible.
