Course description

Why study Art?

You could be part of an exciting and stimulating course, designed to get the very best out of each individual. You will work with a dynamic team experienced in A Level teaching and achieving the highest results. You will begin your journey of creativity by developing your knowledge and creative thinking whilst utilising traditional and contemporary skills, including oil painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, mixed media, digital and darkroom photography and other digital media. You will create a visual diary of your work as it progresses and present a portfolio of your completed work for your final assessment. The course will incorporate visits to exciting places and galleries including London and Cornwall. You need to be able to communicate ideas, commit to work hard, be prepared to explore and be inspired, and exhibit your creativity.

What does the course involve?

Unit 1 - Thematic work: Based on research, observation, experimentations, artists’ studies and final presentation of ideas

Unit 2 - Exam piece

Unit 3 - Thematic work: Based on research, observation, experimentations, artists’ studies and final presentation of ideas

Unit 4 - Exam piece

Progression and Career Opportunities:

You will need A Level Art if you wish to study at foundation or degree level. This can lead to careers in fine art, illustration, architecture, animation, furniture design, interior design, graphic design, fashion, textiles, photography, digital and print media.
