Health and Fitness Level 2 Diploma at Chichester College

Course description

This course is made up of 8 industry recognised qualifications, wrapped into a Diploma. The Active IQ Level 2 Diploma in Health and Fitness will equip learners to prepare for employment in a specific occupational area. The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the essential knowledge and skills required by those who wish to pursue a career as a fitness instructor and/or Personal Trainer.

Course content

L1 Active Healthy Living. L2 Gym Instructor, L2 Activity Leadership, L2 Spinning, L2 Circuits, L2 Kettlebells, L2 Working in Community, L2 Working with Adolescents. The units include: Anatomy and physiology for exercise, Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity, Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment, Principles of exercise, fitness and health, Instructing gym-based exercise. 

Entry requirements

GCSE English and Mathematics (no equivalent). Must be 17 years old or over before 1st September. This course is open to all, no previous experience in Sport is required, however the course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential, therefore a degree of physical fitness.

Future opportunities

Further Studies in Personal Fitness Training and Sports Massage
including industry based apprenticeships. Optional pathways.
Direct into employment as a fitness instructor or class instructor or level 3
personal training qualification.

Further information

At Chichester College we have fantastic sporting facilities including a
sports centre complete with sports hall, fitness studio, a floodlit all
weather Astro pitch and grass pitches, netball and tennis courts.
 
There is a cost of approximately £180 to cover costs of Student Portfolios,
an Educational Trip and Polo Shirt. Appropriate Gym kit will be needed
for practical sessions and assessments..
