Course description

This apprenticeship is suitable for you if you want to start a career or develop your existing skills in working in Business and Administration.  Business administration is an important support role within any business or organisation and, with more experience, is an excellent starting point to progress onto team leading and management roles.

Course content

Administrators handle the day-to-day tasks in an office and make sure things run smoothly. This sort of work requires a strong sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail.

As a business and administration apprentice, your exact duties will depend on your employer but could include:

  • Typing up board meeting documents
  • Putting financial information together in spreadsheets
  • Sending the daily post
  • Faxing and photocopying confidential documents

Entry requirements

No previous qualifications are required and a full assessment will take place to ensure you have the skills to complete the qualification. Those wishing to progress onto an advanced apprenticeship will require GCSE’s A*-C in English and maths (or equivalent) or demonstrate, through the assessment process, that you are able to achieve this.

Future opportunities

Administrators at this level undertake a range of routine tasks in different work contexts. They have some autonomy but are usually supervised. Job roles could include:

  • Administration Assistant
  • Clerical Assistant
