Philosophy and Ethics A Level at Plympton Academy

Course description

You will explore some of the world’s biggest questions, such as: why is there suffering in the world?; are people born evil?; can anyone be truly happy?; do we have a duty to help those in need?; and does science disprove religion? You will also develop analytical, evaluative and investigative skills as you discuss issues such as abortion, animal experimentation, capital punishment, nuclear weapons and religious influences.

Future opportunities

In recent years students have progressed to study accountancy, education, English, geography, history, journalism, law, maths, medicine, midwifery, philosophy, photo-journalism, and social policy at University before pursuing careers as lawyers, journalists, doctors, midwives and teachers.
