Art and Design A Level at Haslingden High School, Specialist Arts, Maths and Computing College

Course description

The Art & Design specification provides candidates with the opportunities to develop personal responses to ideas, observations, experiences, environments and cultures in practical, critical and contextual form.

Course content

• Component 1: Personal investigation
• Component 2: Externally set assignment (preparatory period plus 15 hours of exam time)

Entry requirements

Grade B or above at GCSE Art

Assessment

This course is assessed through practical examinations (40%) and controlled assignments (60%)

Future opportunities

An A-level in Art & Design will prepare students to study and work in the following areas: graphic design, photography, fine art, three dimensional design and crafts, fashion and textiles.
