Physics A Level at The Piggott School

Course description

Physics is a fundamental science concerned with the nature and properties of matter and energy. The subject matter learnt in Physics can span from macroscopic concepts such as forces to quantum level thinking such as the behaviour of electrons . It can be used to explain the funda mentals of everyday life for example: How does the sun produce energy?

Course content

The course aims to stimulate and sustain students’ interest in, and enjoyment of, physics . As students progress through the course, they’ll build on their knowledge of the laws of physics, applying their understanding to areas from sub - atomic particles to the entire universe. Physics will train your brain to think beyond boundaries. You will explain how technology works as well as looking at ways to save the planet. Students will learn to foster their imaginative and problem solving skills to solve practical issues in the laboratory as well as trying to explain how the world works.

Entry requirements

Minimum GCSE entry requirements: Double Science BB , English B, Maths B
